Making Things Work to Save Your Marriage

If your marriage is in trouble, you're probably specifically looking to discover some "save marriage" techniques that work in order to try and get your marriage back to the way it once was. But saving a marriage relationship is not an easy thing to do especially when there are a number of differences between you and your spouse.

One of the best and certainly most important relationships we will ever have during our life is the relationship with our spouse in marriage. But that doesn't mean the relationship won't have any bumps along the way.

In fact we would be better off if we went into our marriage expecting a certain amount of disagreements in our relationship. In fact this is natural and completely normal. Some may seem little and easy to deal with while others seem like wars. But you might as well get used to the fact that you'll never see completely eye to eye about everything with any one person. Lowering your expectation to accept this fact is a huge step for some people.

Sometimes we have some pretty unrealistic expectations. While other times our expectations are perfectly natural and normal and right on. Like one of you having an extra marital affair. Expecting that not to happen is realistic. An extra-marital affair is devastating and can be an embarrassing situation for both partners. It also indicates a failure of companionship in your relationship. Maybe that is due to one of you or both for that matter working too much. It could also be from one of you not giving enough intimate time to your spouse. Sex is an important part of marriage and has been the cause of many marriage failures.

The fact that you're having problems isn't as crucial as how you face and solve them. We all have problems. Honestly any serious problems in a relationship, whether it's money, emotional issues or addictions, can cause anyone's world to fall apart. But you can't be so overcome by the situation that all you can do is sit in the corner and let things happen. If you still love your spouse and if you want to give your marriage another chance definitely go for it.

Making things work as a couple tends to be a little complex at times, but it definitely is possible none the less to work things out and have a happy healthy marriage. It really is true that hiding or being deceitful about things like your finances, your feelings about things, or situations that have happened runs against emotional intimacy. And it in the end creates a rift between you and your spouse.

So if there are things in your marriage that you don't like, then it's time to get them out in the open and be totally honest about things with your spouse even if they are going to hurt. Being totally honest is a foundation all relationships should be built on. It is the only way trust can be built. Now how you reveal those inner feelings or facts is most important. You need to be sensitive and if you need to ask for forgiveness you need to do it with all your heart.

Being able to have an open honest conversation together is one of the most important factors in saving your marriage.
